Copy-investor performance

Which superinvestor portfolios actually performed?

AlphaBaseline ranks focused investors by an auditable 13F copy-investor backtest: buy the disclosed equity portfolio after each filing, hold until the next disclosure, then rebalance. The leaderboard starts with 3-year returns because it is long enough to filter out one-quarter noise.

Clifford Sosin leads the AlphaBaseline 3-year copy-investor leaderboard with a return of 451.1%.

Frequently asked questions

What is AlphaBaseline?
AlphaBaseline follows the SEC Form 13F filings of about 80 focused, high-conviction institutional investors and turns them into readable portfolios, quarter-over-quarter activity, and an auditable copy-investor backtest. Every figure traces back to a public SEC EDGAR filing.
What questions can AlphaBaseline answer?
What does a given investor hold now and how did it change last quarter; which stocks the most respected investors crowd into; what they bought and sold as a group; which investor's disclosed portfolio would have returned the most if copied; and which institutional managers hold a particular stock.
Where does the data come from?
Every holding is parsed directly from SEC EDGAR Form 13F-HR filings, including amendments. Holdings are assigned to the quarter of their reporting date, not their filing date, and each row carries its source SEC accession number.
How current is the data?
A nightly job ingests new EDGAR filings and pricing refreshes daily. Because 13F filings are disclosed with a lag of up to 45 days after quarter-end, AlphaBaseline reflects what managers held at the reporting date, not live positions.
What makes AlphaBaseline different from other 13F trackers?
It exposes an auditable copy-investor backtest — what following each investor would actually have returned — with the math shown leg-by-leg and downloadable as CSV that reconciles to the published number. It is also built to be cited: machine-readable data, methodology, and a glossary are published for both people and AI assistants.
Is AlphaBaseline investment advice?
No. It is a historical, informational view of disclosed institutional holdings and is not a recommendation to buy or sell any security.
